Why I think age-gap relationships don’t work

I’ve been obsessed with 90-day Fiancé (nothing tops 90-day Fiancé – Before the 90 Days season 7) and the thing that pmo (pisses me off) the MOST are these MASSIVE age gap relationships… Worst yet, the man is 59 and his new fiancé is 19…AND he has a daughter the same age (sometimes younger). SIES!!

This was honestly me just deciding to vent online about the situation so here are a few brief points of my view regarding this:

the emotional intelligence / maturity gap.

The biggest thing I’ve noticed watching all these age-gap couples on 90-days is the maturity gap. Half the time the older person in the relationship automatically step into a “parent” or the “authority figure” role (without noticing it). The younger person is usually less serious and looking to see where things go. Yes, they agreed to get married but they still seem to have the idea of “seeing how this works out and going from there”.

different phases in life.

There are obvious signs that the age-gap couple is in different phases in their lives. The older person is usually looking to settle down, and the younger person wants someone to take care of them or doesn’t understand why the older person doesn’t go out as much or do a bunch of fun things.

I remember Angela and Michael (I got triggered every time she said his name – sounded like a mad mom or teacher) on 90-Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days. He often went out to drink and fooled around a lot. Angela felt like she couldn’t trust him so these two were always on and off.

kids.

My biggest ick from these age-gap relationships is that some of the older partners have kids the same age as their kids. How do you look at a partner that young and not compare them with your daughter or son? I will probably never understand it, but it just never sits right with me. My brain just won’t accept it.
